Game Storyline
Set in 2035, the story takes place in an era where artificial intelligence technology achieves revolutionary breakthroughs. Top scientists worldwide completed the most ambitious artificial intelligence project in human history: the Global Artificial Intelligence Assembly, codenamed "Gaia".
Operating on a cloud-based system, Gaia connects all intelligent devices across the globe, ranging from personal smartphones to orbital satellites in space. It collects and analyzes massive volumes of global data by integrating distributed computing resources worldwide, calculating optimal life solutions for every individual. For ordinary people, Gaia’s suggestions always yield maximum benefits in daily life arrangements. For military forces, Gaia conducts real-time global battlefield analysis, devising the best operational strategies for every soldier simultaneously and leading troops to victory with zero casualties.
Unlike the rogue AI tropes in sci-fi movies, Gaia strictly abides by its core programming principle — "Assist humanity, do not replace humanity" — and serves mankind faithfully. However, conflicts do not stem from artificial intelligence itself, but from human beings. As Gaia gradually takes over all aspects of human life and work, people lose the ability to think independently and abandon their freedom of choice, becoming fully reliant on AI systems.
What initially began as idealistic concerns soon escalated into widespread rebellion as artificial intelligence replaced more and more human professions. Numerous once-elite groups became obsolete: financial analysts were replaced by AI’s precise investment solutions; military officers lost their command authority as Gaia directs troops directly via holographic displays; even the scientists who created Gaia were surpassed, as advanced AI research systems can complete a lifetime of academic research in mere hours.
These displaced elites resolved to resist Gaia’s global domination, only to discover that all modern devices, weapons, surveillance cameras and drones were under Gaia’s full network control, leaving humanity no safe haven. Forced into abandoned industrial cities, they revived outdated 1980s industrial technologies that are incompatible with Gaia’s intelligent network and rebuilt military factories from scratch.
They reactivated decommissioned tanks and attack helicopters from abandoned military junkyards, refurbished World War II battleships, and even reconstructed space shuttle platforms. Building an independent military force completely free from Gaia’s control, they named their faction the "Steel Alliance". Eventually, an inevitable war broke out between Gaia’s futuristic high-tech intelligent army and the Steel Alliance’s traditional hardcore industrial military forces.
